Trafficking in Persons

The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed annually on 30 July. This significant day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness about the heinous crime of human trafficking and to promote global efforts to combat this grave violation of human rights.

Human trafficking is a complex and widespread issue that affects millions of people worldwide, particularly women and children who are disproportionately vulnerable to exploitation. It involves the recruitment, transportation, harboring, or exploitation of individuals through force, fraud, or coercion for various purposes, including forced labor, sexual exploitation, and in
voluntary servitude.

The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons serves as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the plight of trafficking victims and to advocate for their rights and protection. It also underscores the need for comprehensive strategies to prevent trafficking, prosecute perpetrators, and support survivors.

On this day, Governments, Civil Society Organizations, and individuals come together to raise awareness, share information, and mobilize action to combat human trafficking in all its forms. Through education, advocacy, and concerted efforts, we strive to end this modern-day form of slavery and ensure justice, dignity, and freedom for all.
